Lily

When starting from nothing and I mean nothing, it seems to take forever for a nice yard to grow up around you. The "yard" part is somewhat easy and quick, if you lay sod. The gardening part is helping me practice a little more patience. A beautiful landscaped, fun, colorful yard with the exact blooms and colors that I want will someday be mine.

I like to think of myself as "not a girlie girl" but I must say I do love certain flowers. Lilies and lilacs are my current favorite. I am patiently waiting for a start of a lilac bush. Not any lilac bush start, it has to be from a dark purple bush. I like the smell of any lilac, but to see the beauty of the dark ones just make me smile, if only to myself.

Isn't she lovely

It has always been a want of mine. My husband actually listened to me rant non stop for months maybe years, and he did it, he found me a piano. I just think some things kids need to learn or be exposed to as children, sports and music are some of what I think kids should learn or participate in. And it makes me so giddy inside that it is so pretty. Well, it has great potential to be lovely.

When it first arrived home.

And after some quick alterations.

The wall in my front room was built for a piano, it fits perfect.
P.S. Thanks to the family that gave her to us. We will love and cherish her, hopefully for a very long time.

Summer To-Do List

My to-do list,
1. Garage entrance - Just a Girl inspired
Just a Girl - Entry Transformation

2. Corbels - my new found want, for under kitchen counter.

3. Cloches (or apothecary)
Joys of home inspired

4. S's room something or anything
5. Move curtains up in living room, they are just not working for me right now.
6. Book shelf for playroom
7. Book cover framed art
(BHG inspired I think)My ongoing list. Will it get accomplished maybe, maybe not. Summer completion is a nice goal for me. I'm hoping that, the fact that I have written it down will motivate me a little more than usual.

Peppers, Squash, Cucumbers Oh My!

Watch them grow. They are just the cutest thing ever. As you can see, some have not survived, but of course the cucumbers are growing. We don't even like cucumbers, so of course they will grow. Maybe the neighbors like them. Where's the cherry tomatoes, that's what we love, well what I love. It's the sad looking thing in the back of the picture.

Oops,

Before
Oops paint $3, hubby can't be mad over $3 right? I paint and the result is horrible. After many coats of "fix it" paint later, and can you tell the difference? I think I can. And, I do like the fact that something is different, even if no one else can tell. It's a work in progress still, I know. I would love some corbels and bar stools to round off the whole glorious magazine cover kitchen island. So, my point just get what you want to start with.

After

The oops paint was cheap in every sense of the word. I had to run out and buy good full price paint the next morning, there was no messing around I tell you it was horrifying. Sorry, no pics.

I see ot
her blogs and their great "oops" paint stories. I'm jealous, I just do not have that good fortune, of finding the perfect oops paint.

front room

This is my room, I love this room, it is just for me to decorate. At least that is what I like to think in my head. On occasion I will allow the rest of the fam to enjoy this space. Also, I have had help with it, thanks Sara.

Let's see how many things have been altered, thrift store purchased, clearance rack or hand made? I can only think of the sofa, curtains, and rods as being placed as is from retail to house. Wait the rods were from a clearance store, and the sofa I asked for the sale price a month after purchase and I got a hundred bucks back. I guess still not altered though.

2009 Garden

Starting a garden from seeds is always a gamble for me, will it work, or will I have to go to Wal-mart to buy a tomato plant? Stay tuned, so far just my banana peppers have not made an appearance, yet.
